Previously, the arrangement of posts on Instagram profiles was strictly chronological, with the only flexibility being the ability to pin up to three posts at the top. Now, users can rearrange their entire grid with a simple long press and drag, providing unprecedented control over how their content is showcased. Posts that are pinned will remain anchored at the top, ensuring that critical updates or highlights can easily be featured.
This significant update was first teased by Instagram's head, Adam Mosseri, back in January 2025, where he addressed user frustrations stemming from the platform’s transition to taller, vertically-oriented thumbnails that often disrupted carefully curated profiles.
