In a bold move to carve out its niche in the ever-competitive gaming accessories market, Asus has unveiled its latest innovation: the ROG Strix XG129C, a 12.3-inch touchscreen IPS display designed as a secondary companion for larger monitors. This new offering, announced on Friday, aims to rival Corsair's emphasis on compact, high-performing sidekick displays.
While slightly smaller than Corsair’s Xeneon Edge which boasts a 14.5-inch screen, the XG129C is engineered to optimize the multitasking capabilities of gamers and streamers alike. At a resolution of 720p, it also covers an impressive 125% of the sRGB color gamut and 90% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Such specifications ensure vibrant colors and high image fidelity, making it an appealing addition to any gaming setup.
Asus further enhances the XG129C’s appeal by including a one-year subscription to AIDA64 Extreme—a hardware monitoring tool valued at $65—which offers users a professional edge in performance analysis. The integrated touchscreen is expected to facilitate not only gaming but also streaming and editing tasks, solidifying its role similar to that of the popular Elgato Stream Deck.

In conjunction with the launch of the XG129C, Asus also showcased the ROG Strix OLED XG34WCDMS, a formidable 34-inch RGB Tandem QD-OLED gaming monitor. This larger unit impresses with a staggering refresh rate of 280Hz and a resolution of 3440 x 1440p, covering 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, further expanding Asus’s footprint in the premium segment of gaming displays.
As of now, Asus has not disclosed pricing details for either the XG129C or the XG34WCDMS. Industry observers speculate these products could redefine how gamers interact with their interface, setting a new standard for secondary displays in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.
